Damage extending through the epidermis into the dermis, with visible tissue destruction. Possible formation of eschar or necrotic tissue if the injury is severe. Reduced sensation or numbness in the area due to nerve involvement. Potential signs of infection if the wound is not adequately treated.

Diagnosis Path: Visual inspection of the skin and underlying tissues. Medical history review to identify exposure details. Imaging studies like X-rays to rule out deeper tissue damage or foreign objects. Laboratory tests to identify any infection or chemical residues. Biopsy in certain cases to evaluate tissue viability.
