Key Symptoms: Redness and inflammation around the affected fingers and nails. Pain or a burning sensation at the site of injury. Blistering or skin erosion on multiple fingers. Nail deformity, discoloration, or loss if the corrosion is severe. Swelling and tenderness in the affected area. Possible tissue necrosis if the corrosion is extensive and not promptly treated.

Diagnosis Path: Diagnosis of corrosion injuries is primarily clinical, based on the characteristic appearance of the affected fingers and history of exposure. A healthcare provider will examine the affected area, assessing the extent of skin and tissue damage. In some cases, additional tests, such as skin biopsies or tissue cultures, may be performed to evaluate the severity or rule out infection. Imaging studies are seldom necessary unless there is suspicion of underlying bone involvement or when foreign objects are present.

Treatment Protocols: Immediate rinsing of the affected area with plenty of water to remove residual corrosive substances. Pain management with appropriate medications.
