Clinical Causes: Accidental exposure to corrosive chemicals such as acids, alkalis, or other caustic substances Workplace accidents involving handling of corrosive materials without adequate safety measures Accidental ingestion or contact with dangerous substances that come into contact with the ear Use of inappropriate or contaminated ear cleaning products containing corrosive agents Intentional exposure or assault involving corrosive substances

Key Symptoms: Severe pain in the affected ear Redness and swelling around the ear Loss of sensation or numbness in the ear region Bleeding or discharge from the ear Bleeding or damaged skin around the ear, excluding the eardrum Crusting or formation of scabs on the skin of the ear Potential deformity or disfigurement if the injury is extensive Possible hearing loss if the injury extends deeper into ear structures

Diagnosis Path: Visual inspection of the external ear for signs of burns, ulcers, or tissue loss Assessment of skin integrity and extent of tissue damage Histopathological examination if necessary to evaluate tissue depth Imaging tests like CT scans may be used if there is concern about deeper tissue or bone involvement Assessment of associated symptoms like hearing loss or nerve damage

Treatment Protocols: Immediate irrigation of the affected area with water or saline to remove residual corrosive substances Cleaning and debriding necrotic tissue to prevent infection Application of topical antibiotics to prevent bacterial infection Use of analgesics for pain relief Protection of the ear from further injury during healing Monitoring for signs of infection or worsening tissue damage Surgical intervention may be necessary in severe cases, including skin grafts or reconstructive procedures Psychological support if injury results from intentional harm
