Clinical Causes: Trauma or injury to the knee, such as fractures, ligament tears, or meniscal injuries Osteoarthritis, leading to joint inflammation and fluid buildup Rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune disorders causing joint inflammation Bursitis or inflammation of the bursae within the knee Infections within the joint, including bacterial or viral arthritis Gout or pseudogout, resulting from crystal deposits in the joint Overuse or repetitive stress on the knee joint Degenerative joint conditions

Key Symptoms: Swelling around the knee joint Pain or tenderness during movement or palpation Stiffness and difficulty moving the knee A feeling of fullness or pressure within the joint Redness or warmth around the knee area Reduced range of motion in the affected knee Potential catching or locking sensation during movement

Diagnosis Path: Physical assessment to observe swelling, tenderness, and range of motion Imaging studies like X-rays to identify bone and joint abnormalities Ultrasound to detect the presence and extent of fluid accumulation Arthrocentesis, where a sample of joint fluid is aspirated and analyzed for signs of infection, crystals, or other abnormalities Laboratory tests for inflammatory markers or infectious agents if an infection is suspected
