Immune system suppression due to medical conditions or medications. Infections associated with lymphoid tissue, though less common. A family history of lymphoma or other blood cancers.

Key Symptoms: Swelling or painless enlargement of the lymph nodes in the pelvic region. Unexplained weight loss over a short period. Persistent fever without an apparent infection. Night sweats that soak clothing or bedding. Fatigue and general malaise. Abdominal discomfort or a feeling of fullness, especially if enlarged lymph nodes press on surrounding organs. Itching or skin changes, although less typical.

Diagnosis Path: Physical examination focusing on lymph node regions, especially the pelvis. Imaging studies such as CT scans, PET scans, or MRI to assess the extent and location of lymph node involvement. Lymph node biopsy to confirm the type of lymphoma by examining tissue under a microscope. Immunophenotyping through blood tests to identify specific cell markers characteristic of non-follicular lymphomas. Additional laboratory tests may include blood counts, bone marrow biopsies, and molecular studies to understand the genetic profile of the lymphoma.

Treatment Protocols: Chemotherapy regimens aimed at destroying malignant lymphocytes, often including drugs like CHOP (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, prednisone). Targeted therapies such as monoclonal antibodies (e.g., Rituximab) that specifically attack cancer cells. Radiation therapy may be used to target localized disease in the pelvic area. Stem cell transplantation in selected cases to restore healthy blood cell production after aggressive treatment. Supportive care, including transfusions, infection prevention, and symptom management, to improve quality of life.
