This makes Destruction useful when the target tissue is diffuse, hard to access surgically, or when the goal is functional, such as reducing muscle activity, rather than obtaining tissue for diagnosis.

Because nothing is sent to pathology in a pure destruction procedure, these cases are typically planned based on imaging or prior biopsy findings rather than intraoperative tissue analysis.

Destruction of the right hip muscle group addresses musculature such as the gluteus maximus, medius, minimus, or the deep external rotators, eliminating diseased tissue without removing it as a specimen. This root operation is used for lesions like heterotopic ossification, vascular malformations, or localized fibrotic tissue where excision could compromise hip abductor strength or gait mechanics. Ablative energy sources, cryoablation, laser, or chemical sclerosants are applied directly to the target area, with care taken given the proximity of the sciatic nerve as it courses beneath the deep hip rotators. Because the hip muscles are critical to pelvic stability and ambulation, procedural documentation should specify which muscle was treated, the destructive method used, and confirmation that the sciatic nerve and surrounding vasculature were not inadvertently affected during the intervention.

Approach: Percutaneous Endoscopic
