Procedure Overview
Magnetic resonance imaging of the male reproductive system creates highly detailed cross sectional images by placing the body in a strong magnetic field and measuring the radiofrequency signals emitted by tissue in response. It does not use ionizing radiation, and it is particularly good at distinguishing between different types of soft tissue, which makes it a preferred choice when fine detail of the prostate or surrounding structures is needed.
