Peroneal Nerve

The peroneal nerve wraps superficially around the fibular neck before splitting into branches that control ankle and toe dorsiflexion and eversion, a position that leaves it exposed to fibular fracture, compression, and knee dislocation injuries. Replacement addresses a segment lost to such trauma by bridging the defect with a nerve autograft, allograft, or conduit, aiming to restore innervation to the anterior and lateral leg muscles and prevent the disabling foot drop that results from unaddressed peroneal injury.
