Head and Neck Tendon

Head and neck tendons, such as those associated with the sternocleidomastoid, strap muscles, or temporalis, are entirely removed when a tumor, deep infection, or severe scarring involves the tendinous insertion and cannot be adequately treated by excising only a diseased segment. This region's tendons lie close to major vessels, nerves, and the airway, so complete resection demands careful dissection to preserve these adjacent structures while removing the tendon in its entirety.
