Lumbar Vertebral Disc

The lumbar vertebral disc is the fibrocartilaginous cushion between adjacent lumbar vertebral bodies, commonly the site of interbody cages, spacers, or disc replacement devices placed to restore disc height and segmental alignment after degeneration or herniation. Revision of this body part is used when such a previously implanted device has subsided, shifted, or otherwise failed to function as intended, and the procedure corrects the existing hardware in place rather than performing a fresh discectomy or new implantation.
