Clinical Causes: Genetic predisposition, including certain HLA gene variations. Autoimmune reaction where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks joint tissues. Environmental factors like smoking or exposure to certain pollutants, potentially triggering the disease in genetically susceptible individuals. Hormonal influences, as seen in some cases related to hormonal changes or imbalances.

Key Symptoms: Pain and tenderness in the left hand's joints, often persistent or worsening over time. Swelling and warmth around the joints of the left hand. Morning stiffness lasting more than an hour, which improves with activity. Reduced joint mobility or stiffness during the day. Possible development of joint deformities if the condition progresses without treatment. Persistent fatigue or feelings of general malaise may also be observed.

Diagnosis Path: Physical examination noting joint swelling, tenderness, and range of motion. Blood tests measuring the presence of rheumatoid factor (RF), which is a type of antibody often found in RA patients. Inflammatory markers such as ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and CRP (C-reactive protein) to assess the level of inflammation. Imaging studies like X-rays of the left hand to identify joint erosion or damage characteristic of RA. Exclusion of other conditions that may mimic RA symptoms.
