Shortness of breath or fatigue due to compromised cardiac function. Palpitations or irregular heartbeat in some cases. Signs of heart failure, including swelling in the legs or abdomen, unexplained weight gain, or persistent coughing.

Diagnosis Path: Physical examination focusing on joint inflammation and cardiovascular signs. Laboratory tests, including rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-CCP antibodies, to confirm RA activity. Electrocardiogram (ECG) to detect electrical activity abnormalities in the heart. Echocardiogram to visualize heart structures and assess for valve issues or pericardial effusion. Blood tests measuring inflammation markers like ESR and CRP (C-reactive protein). Additional imaging or cardiac MRI if other abnormalities are suspected.
