Diagnosis Path: Diagnosis primarily involves a physical examination of the injury, assessing the extent of tissue damage and confirming complete amputation. Imaging studies such as X-rays may be utilized to evaluate remaining bone integrity and detect any remaining fragments or foreign objects. In addition, the healthcare provider will assess for associated injuries to nearby nerves, blood vessels, or bones.
