Clinical Causes: Workplace accidents involving machinery such as saws, industrial presses, or heavy equipment Motor vehicle collisions causing severe trauma to the foot and ankle Falls from significant heights resulting in crushing injuries Suicide attempts involving sharp or heavy objects Crush injuries from heavy objects falling or rolling onto the foot

Key Symptoms: Complete detachment of the foot from the leg Severe bleeding at the injury site Pain in the affected area, though may be diminished if nerve damage occurs Swelling and swelling around the ankle and foot Visible bone fragments or tissue damage Possible shock symptoms such as dizziness or fainting

Diagnosis Path: Diagnosis of a complete amputation is primarily clinical, based on visual inspection and physical examination. Imaging studies such as X-rays are utilized to assess the extent of skeletal injury, bone fragments, and to rule out possible associated injuries such as fracture of the tibia or fibula. The overall condition, extent of soft tissue damage, and presence of bleeding are assessed urgently to plan appropriate treatment.

Treatment Protocols: Immediate control of bleeding through pressure application and, if necessary, tourniquets Covering the amputated part with sterile dressings or moist, sterile gauze to preserve tissue viability for possible reattachment Pain management and stabilization of vital signs Transport to a specialized surgical facility as quickly as possible Surgical assessment to determine the possibility of reattachment or the need for stump formation Revascularization procedures if viable tissue is available, or surgical creation of a stump for prosthetic fitting Postoperative care including antibiotics to prevent infection, wound care, and physical therapy Psychological support and counseling to cope with trauma and assist in rehabilitation
