Key Symptoms: Pain or burning sensation in the throat, chest, or respiratory passages. Coughing, often accompanied by blood or expectoration of mucus. Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath. Swelling or inflammation in the respiratory tract. Hoarseness or voice changes. Sore throat or irritation in the nasal passages. Fever or chills in cases involving secondary infection.

Diagnosis Path: Chest X-ray to identify lung or airway damage. Endoscopy to directly visualize the affected areas of the respiratory tract. Laboratory tests for chemical analysis and to assess the extent of tissue damage. Blood tests to detect signs of infection or systemic response.

Treatment Protocols: Immediate cessation of exposure to the corrosive substance. Airway management, which could involve oxygen therapy or, in severe cases, intubation.
