Key Symptoms: Persistent headaches, especially around the temples Scalp tenderness or pain when touching the scalp Jaw pain or discomfort during chewing Vision problems such as blurred vision or sudden vision loss Fatigue and general malaise Fever and night sweats Muscle aches and joint pain Swelling or tenderness in the arteries in the affected regions

Diagnosis Path: Medical history and physical exam focusing on symptoms and tenderness over arteries Blood tests: Elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) indicate inflammation Imaging studies: Ultrasound, MRI, or PET scans can identify inflammation or artery wall thickening Biopsy: A temporal artery biopsy may be performed if GCA is suspected, although it primarily aids in confirming cranial GCA and less so for other arteries Additional tests: Vision assessments and neurological evaluations as needed
