Clinical Causes: Various viruses transmitted through tick bites, including but not limited to: Tick-borne flaviviruses Other less common tick-borne viruses capable of causing encephalitis Multiple tick species act as vectors, primarily in regions where tick activity is high Environmental factors such as wooded or grassy areas where ticks thrive Activities involving outdoor exposure in endemic regions

Key Symptoms: Fever and chills Headache or severe migraine Neck stiffness or rigidity Altered mental state, such as confusion or drowsiness Nausea and vomiting Sensitivity to light (photophobia) Muscle weakness or paralysis in severe cases Seizures, particularly if the brain is significantly affected Behavioral changes or decreased consciousness

Diagnosis Path: Medical history review, including recent outdoor activities and tick exposure Physical examination focused on neurological symptoms Blood tests to identify viral antibodies or viral RNA (PCR testing) Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis to detect inflammation or viral presence Neuroimaging techniques such as MRI or CT scans to assess brain inflammation Exclusion of other causes of encephalitis or neurological symptoms
