Head and Neck Tendon

Head and neck tendons include structures such as the temporalis tendon and other small tendinous attachments associated with muscles of mastication and cervical motion. Extirpation in this region involves removing solid matter such as a thrombus, foreign body, or necrotic debris lodged within or around the tendon, rather than excising the tendon tissue itself. This distinction matters because head and neck tendons are compact and located near critical structures including the temporomandibular joint, facial nerve branches, and major cervical vessels, so the surgeon must navigate carefully to extract the abnormal material without damaging surrounding anatomy. Approach: Percutaneous Endoscopic

Percutaneous Endoscopic combines a puncture through skin or mucous membrane with insertion of an endoscope to visualize the procedure internally, as in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It is distinguished from plain Percutaneous by the presence of scope-guided visualization, and from Via Natural or Artificial Opening Endoscopic by its route being a new puncture rather than an existing orifice or stoma.
