Diagnosis Path: Diagnosis of Marburg virus disease involves a combination of clinical evaluation and laboratory testing. Due to the severity of symptoms, initial suspicion often leads to laboratory tests such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) to detect viral RNA, ELISA tests for specific antibodies, and virus isolation techniques. Early diagnosis is critical to managing the disease and implementing appropriate infection control measures.

Treatment Protocols: Currently, there are no specific antiviral medications approved for Marburg virus disease. Treatment primarily focuses on supportive care, which includes maintaining hydration, oxygenation, and treating secondary infections or complications. Hospitalization often involves intensive supportive therapy, including fluid management, blood transfusions, and monitoring organ functions. Experimental vaccines and treatments are under research and development but are not yet widely available.
