Key Symptoms: Rapid onset of joint pain in the wrist Swelling and warmth around the wrist joint Redness and tenderness over the affected area Stiffness and limited movement of the wrist Fever and general malaise in some cases Sometimes, a sudden loss of function or inability to use the wrist normally Increased pain with movement or pressure on the joint

Diagnosis Path: Physical examination to assess swelling, warmth, tenderness, and range of motion Blood tests to identify signs of infection, such as elevated white blood cell count and markers of inflammation Joint aspiration (arthrocentesis), where a sample of synovial fluid is drawn from the wrist for analysis Laboratory analysis of synovial fluid to detect the presence of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria through Gram stain, culture, and sensitivity testing Imaging studies such as X-rays or MRI scans to evaluate joint damage and rule out other causes of joint symptoms
