Key Symptoms: Difficult or painful urination Frequent urge to urinate Pain or discomfort in the pelvic area Blood in semen or urine (rare) Discharge from the urethra that may be clear or cloudy Discomfort or pain during ejaculation General urinary irritation symptoms

Diagnosis Path: Physical examination focusing on the prostate and genital area Urinalysis to evaluate signs of infection Microscopic examination of urine or prostatic fluid to detect Trichomonas organisms Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests for detecting Trichomonas DNA Culture tests, although less commonly used due to longer processing times Serologic testing may be considered in some cases

Treatment Protocols: Metronidazole is the primary medication prescribed to eradicate the infection Tinidazole can be an alternative if metronidazole is not suitable Partner treatment is often recommended to prevent reinfection Abstaining from sexual activity during treatment period Follow-up testing to confirm eradication of the parasite Symptomatic management for discomfort and inflammation
